Camping

Camping went well. I actually didn't have too hard of a time controlling myself. I did have three s'mores but I didn't eat tons of chocolate or sweets/unhealthy treats so I feel pretty good. Also, I weighed myself yesterday and I lost another pound! yay! One more down! I'm feeling really upbeat about my new healthy lifestyle and losing these pounds so I feel better about my body image!

Friday

Today is going very well so far. I had yummy cherrios for breakfast with fresh blueberries and fresh peach slices! It was delicious!

I have to keep reminding myself about overeating. I am an over eater. Sometimes I will over eat because I don't want to waste food, or because I'm afraid I wont be able to eat that food again for a while, or ever. But I need to remind myself that it's JUST food. I can buy the same thing at the store every day if I really want to. It's not just a one time thing. And if it is a one time thing, I should eat it slowly and enjoy it and have that be it. I don't need to over indulge resulting in stomach pain and then regret it later. It's all about self-control; something I am really trying to work on.

Today

Today went well for the most part. I found myself having a hard time not eating some of Hannah's food when she was eating (like cutting up food and eating a little). but I figure it's all healthy so it's okay. And I had cantaloupe as part of my snack. so all in all I think I'm around 1800 calories for today. I felt pretty good all day but around 9 I was so tired. Now, I'm doing a little computer work and I'm more awake. So here's to tomorrow. I'm going camping and so this whole calorie restriction will be tweaked a little so I can enjoy some s'mores. Yum!

Weaning...

Well, I am in the process of weaning Hannah. It's actually been really easy for her because I think at this point she likes the bottle a lot (no waiting for let down ). It's hard for me though. I just love the bonding time I have with her when she nurses. I'm sad. But I guess it's good that it's happening so smoothly. Today I only nursed her in the morning. I think I'll keep doing that until she doesn't want to anymore and have the rest of her feedings be formula. One bad thing about weaning is that I'll have to buy formula! I don't really want to. We've gotten so many free cans that I feel so blessed that we haven't had to buy any. Luckily we wont have to buy too much because she's almost 1!

Since we are weaning I am going to be more strict with my diet. Here's the plan for tomorrow and we'll see if I can stick to it and if it will be filling.

Breakfast:
*2 c Cherrios
*1 c Skim Milk
*1/2 c blueberries

Lunch:
*2 pieces whole wheat bread
* 1 1/2 T peanut butter
* 1 1/2 T jam
*1 c sliced carrot

Snack:
*Yogurt

Dinner:
* 1 c skim milk
*1 c cooked spaghetti
*1/2 c spaghetti sauce
*4 meatballs
* 1 c cooked broccoli
* 1 c strawberries (dessert!)

Total Cal: 1503

2010 Goals!

You might be wondering, Goals? At this time of the year? Yes, well, I realized I never made any concrete goals for my health this year and so I thought it was about time.
Some things that helped my in making goals:
-I gained 3 1/2 lbs in one week! WTH?!
-My dad weighed himself on my scale and WE WEIGH THE SAME!! (I know, totally embarrassing)
-I want to be at least 10 lbs lighter before I get pregnant with numero dos which will probably be happening sometime later this year...

On with the Goals!

#1-Short-term goal-lose 10 lbs by Hannah's first birthday, August 24 (then I'll be at my pre-preg weight)
#2-Lose another 10 lbs by October 31st
#3-Lose 5 more lbs by the end of the year totaling 25 lbs
#4-Do some form of exercise each day, at least 20 minutes (biking, running, walking, etc)
#5-Cut down on sweets. This one is really hard for me. I don't know how to set limits for candy/sweets eating so if anyone has any good ideas let me know! : )

Next Race: July 24th 10k

I have decided that unless I have something to work towards (half-marathon for instance) I am just not motivated (I know, sad)! So a 10k it is! I think it will be lots of fun and I think my dear Husband is going to run it with me. I lost 1/2 lb this week. Not too much going on there but at least I'm not the same like I have been the past like month and a half! Good luck to all you walkers, joggers, runners out there!

Walking again

I've decided to start walking on a regular basis again. I'm not sure if it will always be in the morning like today or in the evening. But today was great. I did a bunch of hills which is very easy in my neighborhood and even ran a little :) So I hope everyone else is having a great healthy day!

Half-Marathon stats and what I'm doing now

The half-marathon was crazy to say the least! Everything was going great until around mile 9 or 10. We were at liberty park and I stopped running to get a drink and my left knee started killing me! Sharp pains were no fun and happened every time I moved it. I worked through the pain though and my sister and I finished in 2 hrs 14 min and 47 sec (not sure on the sec, but who's counting?) I ended up with 2 blisters on my right foot and my body was VERY sore later that day (and I helped host a baby shower for my sister!). On Sunday I was doing a little better and managed to function as a Nursery worker in my ward. After a week I was feeling normal again. And after two weeks I finally ran again! It felt really good to run. now, here we are 2 1/2 weeks later and I haven't been doing much but the occasional walk. Ahh, oh well. I knew this would happen and that I needed a break afterward but I'm definitely ready to start exercising on a regular basis again. I've got to lose my baby weight before I get pregnant again!

Wendy's Hamburger + Running = BLA!

Just in case anyone out there needs to know: Eating a Wendy's hamburger and then going running does NOT mix well. I went running about 2 hours after eating it but still. I felt like my stomach was sick and I was having indigestion too! I should've known. I should've gone running when I went to the park this afternoon. Oh well. Lessons learned.

I can't believe the half marathon is in almost a week!!
I'm a little nervous.
I'm going to be really glad when it's over.
I'm still going to run after the half is over. It might take me a couple weeks but I'll be back :)

P.S. Why is it that I've been running so much and eating well and STILL NOT losing weight? It's pretty annoying. I'm still not to my pre-pregnancy weight and I'm pretty flustered. I know I've said in the past that everyone's different but really? Geez!

10 miles!

Yep, I ran ten miles on Friday! It was hard. We (my sis & I) ran 5 miles then took some gu (one each) then we ran some more until about 7 miles and I hit the wall! It was terrible. I felt like I couldn't go anymore. So we walked for a couple minutes until we got to 8 miles and then took another gu each. We ran some more and by the time we were done with our run I was on fire! I had SO much energy. I felt so good. I felt like I could run another few miles still. So, it was a good trial run for the half-marathon which is in 2 weeks!! I think for the half I will take the gu at 3 miles, 6 miles, and then see if I need another at 9 miles. The gu seemed to take a little longer to work than I thought it would. Anyway, so things are going good, still on track. And I'll be honest in that I can't wait for this to be over. I just feel so much pressure to perform! It'll be nice to walk during the week and run just one day a week.

I hope everyone else is doing well!

10-12 miles

Tomorrow I'm supposed to run 10-12 miles. EEK! I'm pretty sure I can do it. I might pee my pants but I can do it. I have been running 3 days a week every week since my last post and doing good. A couple saturday's ago my sissy a.k.a. running partner and I ran 8 miles at once! It was pretty intense! I felt like I was going to die so we'll see how tomorrow goes.

In weight loss news I've stayed pretty steady at the same weight for a while...I don't quite understand but maybe it's a combination of eating more food than the average person, gaining muscle from running, and who knows what.

Anyway, ugh, I guess I'll go to bed early tonight.

Still going strong!!

Yesterday I ran 2.6 miles not counting my warm up and cool down in 29 minutes! :)

Then today I walked to the library for my cross training and it was great. I walked for 40 minutes!

Anyway, I just wanted to post to help keep me going. I hope everyone else is doing good!

6 miles and doing ok

Well I'm on vacation right now with my sister who is also training for the half marathon. We didn't slack off the whole week which I might have if I was by myself :) which is why its great to have a running partner! We did 2 1/2 miles on Monday, missed Wednesday, and then 6 miles yesterday! It was hard and I wanted to quit and it was a hard reminder of how far I still need to go. I'm feeling pretty good today. My ankles are a little sore and same with the rest of my lower body but other than that I think I'll be ready to run again on Monday. I've been consistent in my running the past couple weeks too.
I was thinking yesterday as we were running, this is hard! It was hard and maybe that's why a lot of people don't do it, because it is difficult to run that much. And for me it's just going to get harder before it gets easier (the easy part is after the 1/2 marathon is over!) Anyway, just wanted to let ya'll know how things are going for me!

WAY cool website!

My sister just told me about this awesome website www.usatf.com. I think the coolest thing about it is that you can track your jogging routes. As the weather gets nicer I'm going to be jogging pretty much outside all the time. Sometimes it's hard to track where I go and I often just estimate. But with this website it tells you exactly how far you've gone using Googlemaps. You can cut across the street or through a yard. It's cool. Yesterday I ran 4 1/2 miles and tracked it using the website since I was out and about. There's also a feature to see other people's routes close to your home and how many miles they are if you want to do a specific route. You should check it out!

Here's the link to make your own route:http://www.usatf.org/routes/map/

Biking

I went biking (at the gym) yesterday for my cross training workout. It was awesome! I went 6 1/2 miles in 35 minutes. It was hard because I was doing hills but it felt good to get a hard workout in again. Now today is running. I haven't done it yet but I'm still planning on it :) I think biking is a great cross training exercise. I'm also considering the elliptical and swimming as other options. My food hasn't been as great as it was in the beginning of the year but I'm still trying despite the huge amount of chocolate I just received from Valentine's Day...

Slug

Today I feel like a slug. I did run 3 miles but I still feel like a slug. And when I was running I was feeling sore and it was hard and I was king of mad that I was running. I didn't want to be running. I wanted to be sitting on my couch playing with Hannah and not working hard, or maybe at least just walking around the park and not running. Maybe it's because I woke up at 6 and I'm just cranky.

Breathe the fresh air

Today I went outside in the backyard while Hannah was taking a nap because Sasha was barking at who knows what. The weather today has been great and I just stood out there and took a few deep breaths and thought to myself I feel healthy, I feel good, I look good. (Now, don't think I'm getting all self-whatever). On Friday I was hanging out with one of my friends and we were talking about our baby weight (her baby is 3 weeks younger than Hannah). She was talking about how much harder it was to get the weight off this time (this is her 2nd). By the end of the conversation we decided that we both look really good and looking back 10 years from now we'll say to ourselves, what were we thinking we looked great! I've done this many times. Looking back to when I was in high school, or just married, or now, before Hannah. But sometimes I stop and think, really, I don't look too bad :)

I hope you can look at yourself today after all the hard work you've been doing to stay in shape and think to yourself, you look great because you do!

Update!

Well, I just realized how long it had been since my last post! I am doing this 11 week training program for the 1/2 marathon. So I ran Wednesday and didn't run again until Monday but I ran a little over 2 miles with the stroller and the dog. It was interesting to say the least and I'll took forward to runs on Saturdays when I can concentrate on my form and such a little better.
So here's the plan and the training program started this week:
Mon, Wed and sat are running days,
Tues and Thurs are cross training days and
Fri is a stretch day and
Sunday is a rest day. I haven't gone running yet today but I will as soon as my babe gets tired for her next nap :)

(Edit: I ran 2 3/4 miles today! It was really really hard but I'm glad I'm doing it)

I'm sorry you guys are in a rut. Those are hard to get out of and I know I've had plenty of them. Good luck this week and I want to see you soon!!

I ran 2 miles today

I felt like I might throw up at one point but I did it. I've got A LOT of training to do before April 17th.

It wasn't too bad though considering it being my first time running a long distance since last may...

You know when you're not blogging...

Things usually aren't going so well. It's true for me at least. I like to blog every day about my accomplishments. But when I make chocolate chip m&m oatmeal cookies and eat a lot of them in one day. Well, not my best moment. I have been struggling to work out this week. I really really REALLY need to start running or I will die when I run the half marathon in less than 3 months. Since the weather is sure to continue this way for a while I might get a month to month membership at the Westminster Gym. It's pretty close and then while Danny's home I can go over there and run a few miles and on the days that the weather's nice I can run with Hannah and the dog (is that possible? I can just imagine myself running with a stroller and the dog...I don't know if I'm ready for that...) Anyway, I'm trying to keep myself pumped for this and I was calculating yesterday just for fun, if I want to lose 30 lbs this year, which I might, depending, then I only need to lose 2.7 lbs a month starting in February! 3 lbs a month! It seems pretty do-able right? I definitely want to get down to 130 before I get pregnant again so maybe that should be my goal for now. Oh, and I'm still sticking to my measurement goals too and will be checking them soon!

I wish everyone good luck this week and keep up the hard work!
